The audacity of the two-page government ad celebrating Caribbean Statistics Day 2025 in yesterday’s issue of Stabroek News (October 15, 2025) is simply stunning to any informed reader. The 2022 National Census was completed in the latter part of 2022. Yet, despite repeated promises by the PPP-led government, especially in the lead-up to the 2025 General Elections, the nation is still awaiting the release of the census results, now entering the third year of delay. Do Senior Minister with Responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, and Chief Statistician Errol La Cruz of the Bureau of Statistics still have any self-respect left?
