- Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith Professor
- Professor Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith is a Fellow with the Caribbean Policy Consortium and Global Americans and a former Senior Associate with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, who has published widely on Caribbean affairs. His most recent books are Challenged Sovereignty: The Impact of Drugs, Crime, Terrorism, and Cyber Threats in the Caribbean and Sylvie’s Love and Loss, both published in 2024. Ivelaw is the recipient of the 2015 Perry Award for Excellence in Security and Defense Education, named in honor of former US Defense Secretary Dr. William Perry, the first person from the Caribbean to receive this honor. He was also awarded the Cacique Crown of Honor—Guyana’s third highest national honor—for Excellence in International Scholarship and Transformational Education Leadership. He has served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Guyana, President of Fort Valley State University in Georgia, Provost of universities in Virginia and New York, and as a dean at Florida International University. He has testified before the U.S. Congress and served as a consultant to several U.S and international organizations. He and his wife of four decades have two adult children and two grandchildren.
- Janette Bulkan Associate Professor
- Janette Bulkan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Forest Resources Management in the Faculty of Forestry, University of British Columbia. She is interested in new forms of enclosures, both de jure and de facto, often mediated by the power of the State and its allies. Those enclosures are increasingly not about territory, but about proprietary access to hydrocarbons, timber, and minerals, and associated intangible products and services, that are often incorporated into complex anastomosing supply chains. Janette is a Director of the Oil and Gas Governance Network (OGGN); https://www.oggn.org/about/ She is also a member of the Governing Council of the Commonwealth Forestry Association, and the Advisory Board of the GREEN Institute, University of Guyana. Janette is the Coordinator of the International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO) Working Party 9.03.07 on Indigenous Peoples and Forest Landscapes, and a member of IUFRO Task Force T48 on Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Forest-related sectors. Janette works on green extractivism, community forestry and independent third-party forest certification systems. Janette served as a member of the Policy and Standards Committee of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) from 2013-2020.
- Cyril Kenrick Hunte Professor
- Cyril Kenrick Hunte is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Howard University and he has been a member of the Faculty from 1996. He served as the Director of Graduate Studies in the Economics Department at Howard University from October 2009 to August 2016. Kenrick was an Adjunct Professor at Bowie State University, Lecturer in Economics at Johns Hopkins University, and a Lecturer, Agricultural Economics at the University of Guyana. From August 2016, Kenrick was on leave from the Department of Economics for a 4-year term as resident High Commissioner of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to the Republic of South Africa, with concurrent accreditations as non-resident High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia, Zambia, The Gambia, and Ambassador to Zimbabwe; and with confirmed appointments as High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, and the Kingdom of Eswatini. In January 2021, Kenrick resumed his positions as Professor in the Department of Economics and recommenced his responsibility for managing the Chapter of the Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) Economics Honor Society at Howard University. His previous professional/academic work experience includes being a Consultant at the World Bank in Washington, DC, and a Consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization, United Nations. These consultancies were conducted in India and in the Caribbean regarding savings and access to credit in rural financial markets. In Guyana, Kenrick was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director at the Guyana Agricultural and Industrial Development Bank (GAIBANK) from 1985-1994; Deputy General Manager and Senior Project Officer in 1984; Senior Loan Administration and Research Officer from July 1980-1984. These responsibilities involved the management of credit programs financed with equity and donor funds from Inter-American Development Bank, Canadian International Development Agency, European Investment Bank.
